Description
ALGENIB represents the tip of the wing of the Flying Horse. The name is Arabic and derives either from the Arabic names Al Janah, meaning "The Wing" or Al Janb meaning "The Side". The ancient Greeks saw the four stars that comprise the Great Square of the constellation as a representation of Pegasus, the mythological winged horse. Algenib marks the southeast corner of the Square, the star Scheat marks the northwest corner, Markab marks the southwest corner, and Alpheratz marks the northeast corner.
